This is an oversized garment! If you want a more regular fit, size down. If you like the oversized look and want to layer this with a hoodie or sweater, buy your normal size.

This project is thoughtfully sequenced and could be finished in a weekend. I am a lifelong sewer and I referenced the accompanying videos several times through the process. I used polar fleece for my first draft, which resulted in a super cozy jacket, though next time I'll serge the seams before flat felling to compress the bulk. I can't wait to try it with different materials, and give the crop version a go for a super quick project (no welt pockets).

Decided to take on the Sample Room's 60 day Sewing Challenge and picked the Workwear Jacket as my pattern. I used a thrifted denim I found at Saver's and some leftover shank buttons from a previous project.

Pros

- There's a full video tutorial and separate mini-tutorials for the trickier parts of the jackets, like the sleeves and collar facings.

- The finished project kinda looks like something Hal from Malcom in the Middle would wear - very 90s.

- Finished project is comfy.

- Really love the concept of the Sewing Challenge, feel like it's a great way to put your brand out there!

- There's a projector file!

Me Being Nitpicky

- I feel like some of the pattern proportions are kinda off - the yoke piece feels really small, and the sleeve from armpit to elbow is *very* roomy (looks this way in the pattern too), kinda like a batwing sleeve. This could be user error, though, as I'm still getting used to sewing with a projector.

- There is so so much ease in the body of the garment compared to the sleeve cuffs - my measurements fall smack dab in the middle as a size S, but I'd could probably size down by one or two next time.

If you are looking to level up your sewing, this pattern is for you! The video instructions made construction a breeze and I was able to complete my first welt pocket and sleeve plackets. The beautiful design elements of this jacket make it stand out. I will be wearing it years to come!
