I have sewn the high waisted pattern version first, but plan and already cut out the low waisted one for more practice. Upcycling and using vintage thrifted and old fabric from my mom’s collection. Good instructions to help guide you through the steps. I ended up using French seams which were more challenging for the arm holes and still working through matching up the lining better. I added a ruffle and pivoted to tie straps because I accidentally recycled the pattern and wanted to utilize both fabrics. Overall had fun making this dress for an upcoming concert. Will make another soon.

This pattern is definitely doable as a beginner!
It was easy to cut out the pieces, and construction was very straightforward.
A lot of my hiccups came from my inexperience, and not reading the pattern thoroughly.
I would say I definitely did not pick the right fabric, as it turned out sheer in the skirt.
I would also recommend using the high-waisted version, as I think low-waisted does not look very proportional, but that is personal preference.
I also had a hiccup printing it out and it came out too small. I will definitely try again however, as I really liked the result!
It was great to do this as part of the sewing challenge and get a refund!

I made this from a thrifted long sleeve light denim button up, I love that this pattern has both new fabric and circular options. I am 5’10” so I added several inches to the skirt portion. I widened the straps a little so they would hide bra straps a bit easier. I also need to try out a FBA and see if that fixes my fit issues on the bodice (my full bust is 3 1/2” more than my upper bust but I haven’t made fitted garments before so I didn’t know to look out for it!). I’ll update when I get a remake done.

This is a great project! The pattern pieces make it easy to use up salvaged fabric/make a circular version and it was a good opportunity to practice some top stitching for me.
